The three key words in canine behaviors
There are three key words that we should always keep in mind
Many of the problems in human-dog relationships come as a consequence of having unconsciously reinforced behaviors that in the long run will be detrimental to our common coexistence in society: unjustified barking and pulling the leash would be a good example of this. There are three key words that we should always keep in mind:
Association: a behavior/stimulus is associated with a reinforcement (positive or negative).
Socialization: (see Incomplete Socializations).
Anticipation: Our mind/reflexes have to be faster than those of our dog. In the next chapters/videos we will analyze how to correctly use counter conditioning in different situations.
